The German Cancer Award, sponsored by the German Cancer Society and the German Cancer Foundation, is one of the highest awards in German cancer medicine. In the “Clinical Research” category, this year’s award went to Prof. Dr. Michael Platten (German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg; Mannheim University Medical Centre). In the “Translational Research” category this year’s award went to Ugur Sahin (TRON – Translational Oncology at the University Hospital of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz). Prof. Dr. Roland Rad and Prof. Dr. Dieter Saur (both from the German Cancer Consortium DKTK at the Technical University of Munich, Klinikum rechts der Isar) shared the prize in the “Experimental Research” category. The researchers were honoured at the 20th International AEK Congress in Heidelberg.
