Press Release – BioRN Lounge: Dr. Marc Stanke from Accantec talked about “The Data Scientist”
It has become a common habit in the BioRN cluster for the life science companies as well for scientists from our research institutes, to join the monthly BioRN Lounge.
The BioRN Lounge is the prime monthly networking event for BioRN members. It is the occasion for exchange, meeting and interaction in a very relaxed atmosphere with some drinks and food.
In addition, an invited speaker from the network presents and discusses with the participants, scientific trends, outbreaking techniques, outstanding research and more. Yesterday was the turn of Dr. Marc Stanke, from accantec consulting AG, who presented to the audience the “Data Science” and especially its exponentially growing applications and implications.
“Although in the recent past, terminology, statistical methods and way of looking at problems did not change, the Data Science gained significantly more attention. Why is that?”
Dr. Marc Stanke focused his presentation on the broad available methodology, which increased performance and scalability, but that also led to the need of a Data Scientist. The data scientist must understand and shape the underlying architecture (Data engineer), implement data pipeline on modern analytics platforms (Software Engineer) and apply advanced analytics (Statistician).
Our next BioRN lounge will be on Tuesday April 24 as usual in the Kasselhaus by Urban Kitchen. Prof. Andreas Trumpp will talk about “Stem Cells and Cancer: From Molecular Mechanism to Clinical Trials”.
