bioRN Blood & BBQ – bioRN Summer BBQ with Blood Donation Call

We warmly invite you to a very special summer event – one that’s not only about good vibes, great food, and valuable conversations, but also about solidarity and social responsibility: Our bioRN Summer BBQ with Blood Donation Call!

As a network rooted in the life sciences, we contribute to medical progress every day – and we believe that also means taking action when help is needed. Donating blood saves lives, yet many of us don’t do it regularly (or at all). We want to change that – together with you.

That’s why we’re combining this year’s summer BBQ with a clear mission: To inspire as many people from our network as possible to roll up their sleeves and donate!

Here’s how it works:

• When? Donate blood at the IKTZ on 10 July – any time during the day, depending on your schedule.

• Where? The IKTZ Blood Donation Center, Im Neuenheimer Feld 583 (Blood donation is possilble until 6pm)

• Who? First-time donors are more than welcome! Please allow around one hour for the process.

• Please register here

• What’s next? Starting at 4:00 PM, we’ll kick off our Summer BBQ for all donators at the meadow in front of the DKFZ casino (until around 8:00 PM) – with cold drinks, tasty grilled food, and the chance to reconnect, network, and enjoy the true bioRN spirit.

All blood donors will take part in a prize draw at 6:30pm 

Why are we doing this?

Blood is irreplaceable – and in Germany alone, thousands of donations are needed every single day for surgeries, cancer patients, accident victims, and more. And while many of us contribute to medical advances in our professional lives, the need for regular blood donations is often overlooked. We want to change that – not just once, but for the long term.

Let’s show what our vibrant life science ecosystem is all about: Commitment, community – and heart.
