BioRN is an innovation cluster based on the constant interaction between academia, industry and government for the production, transfer and application of knowledge in the Life Sciences. This approach refers to a spiral model of innovation, called triple-helix model.
Many other bioclusters are distributed in Germany and convey under the Council of BioRegions in Germany (AK-BioRegio). This alliance was founded at the beginning of 2004 in Leipzig and has had its office in BIO Deutschland in Berlin since January 2009. Today 30 BioRegions have formed alliances through this council, to optimise and coordinate their regional activities in the interest of German biotechnology.
Dr. Julia Schaft (BioRN Managing Director) was unanimously elected as new spokeswomen of the AK-BioRegio. "(...) The Election took place during the German Biotechnology Days (DBT), on March 28th and 29th in Wiesbaden. The event is the national forum for the German biotechnology industry. The DBT brings together entrepreneurs with scientists and partners from politics, funding institutions and administration.
