BioM, bioRN and ESMT Berlin join forces to create a Unified Hub for healthcare innovation in Germany

BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH, bioRN Life Science Cluster and ESMT Berlin announced the establishment of a Unified Hub for Healthcare Innovation. Through this alliance, the two biotech cluster organizations and DEEP – Institute for Deep Tech Innovation at ESMT will collaborate strategically to reinforce Germany’s position as a leading hub for translating scientific breakthroughs into impactful healthcare solutions.

The Unified Hub brings together three of Germany’s most dynamic life science and innovation ecosystems: Bavaria (BioM), the Rhine-Neckar region (bioRN), and Berlin (ESMT). By combining regional strengths, networks, expertise and resources, the partners aim to create a nationally connected platform that helps innovators move more effectively from discovery to commercial success.

Germany is home to world-class research institutions, innovative start-ups, established biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, and a growing community of investors and entrepreneurs. The Unified Hub plans to connect these strengths more closely across regions, creating greater opportunities for collaboration, technology translation, and venture growth.

The collaboration builds on the successful partnership between the three organizations in delivering entrepreneurial programs such as the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL)-Berlin Health Stream. Through the CDL-Berlin Health Stream, ambitious science-based ventures receive objective-driven mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, operators, and investors to accelerate their commercial growth. Building on the strong foundation of CDL-Berlin that has been running since 2022, the Unified Hub will continue to support the CDL-Berlin Health Stream while expanding its portfolio with new initiatives that bridge the gap between scientific research and successful market adoption.

Through a coordinated national approach, the Unified Hub aims to:

  • Accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into market-ready healthcare solutions
  • Connect innovators with mentors, investors, and industry partners across Germany
  • Strengthen support for start-ups and emerging ventures at different stages of development
  • Increase international visibility for Germany’s healthcare innovation ecosystem
  • Foster greater collaboration between leading life science regions

The partners envision the Unified Hub as an open platform that complements existing regional activities and leverages national capabilities to create greater impact.

For researchers, founders, and industry partners, this means access to a broader network, more diverse expertise and expanded opportunities to engage with stakeholders across Germany’s healthcare innovation landscape.

As healthcare challenges become increasingly global, the Unified Hub will help position Germany as a connected and competitive environment for developing the next generation of therapeutics, diagnostics, medical technologies, and digital health solutions.
