Workflow Optimisation in the Laboratory: Premiere of the smartLabs Summit in Heidelberg

On September 24, 2025, the smartLabs Summit will open its doors for the first time in Heidelberg – an event dedicated to practical innovation, digitalization, and automation in laboratories. The Summit will take place at BioLabs Heidelberg (Nicola-Tesla Straße 1–3, 69124 Heidelberg) and offers a full program from 1:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Initiated by the bioRN Life Science Cluster Rhine-Neckar in close cooperation with BioLabs Heidelberg, the smartLabs Summit addresses professionals from research and industry, including lab technicians, lab managers, (junior) researchers, and procurement specialists for laboratory equipment.

The motto of the event: “Optimise your workflow.” The smartLabs Summit aims to establish a permanent platform in the region to advance scientific workflows and showcase modern laboratory solutions. With its focus on practical application, digitalization, and sustainable laboratory technology, the event seeks to inspire how labs can be designed more efficiently and sustainably.

Participants can expect a diverse program presenting the latest technologies and practical examples:

  • Keynotes by leading experts, offering deep insights into topics such as automated bioanalytics and smart digital workflows.
  • Around 35 exhibitors, showcasing live innovations and solutions – from automation and AI to sustainable laboratory concepts.
  • Interactive sessions & live demonstrations of real-world applications.
  • A networking get-together (“Talent Connect”) after the official program, providing opportunities to exchange ideas and initiate collaborations.
