Funding Paves the Way for the Startup immuneAdvice to Move into Clinical Studies
Press Release from immuneAdvice GmbH, September 22, 2026
A new chapter is beginning for immuneAdvice: The biotechnology company has received seed funding from Marathon Beteiligungs AG, supported by the InnoGrowth BW investment program, as well as from Terra Nostra Corporate GmbH. With these additional funds, immuneAdvice is laying the groundwork to turn an ambitious goal into reality: making immune activity in patients’ bodies visible, thereby enabling more targeted cancer therapies.
Development of Immune Cell Tracers for Cancer Therapy
“This funding enables us to reach a crucial milestone: For the first time, we can bring our innovative immune cell imaging technology into clinical use while simultaneously accelerating the development of our platform technology,” says Dr. Teresa Wagner, CEO of immuneAdvice GmbH. “Our investors are not only placing their trust in us, but are also actively supporting our vision with decades of experience in the field of radiopharmaceuticals and in successful company development.”
The next steps in development will focus on a novel tracer for the clinical imaging of T cells using positron emission tomography (PET), which allows these cells to be visualized within the body without the need for additional blood draws or tissue samples. immuneAdvice is currently preparing to manufacture the tracer for the company’s first clinical trial. This trial is to be conducted in patients with advanced cancer.
One Step Closer to Personalized Cancer Therapy
For Dr. Andreas Kluge, CEO of Marathon Beteiligungs AG, this represents a key benefit of the technology: “immuneAdvice provides a new way to better understand how the immune system functions in patients. This is an extremely promising approach with the potential to significantly advance the targeting and personalization of immunotherapies.”
At the same time, immuneAdvice is exploring the potential applications of additional tracers within the framework of its platform technology. The goal is to enable the simultaneous, targeted analysis of different immune cell populations in the body in the future, in order to decipher the function of—and resistance to—specific therapies. Some of these molecules are even suitable as theranostics for the direct modulation of the immune system or targeted radiation therapy.
“From an investor’s perspective, the development of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals offers a highly attractive, low-risk alternative to conventional drugs. Suitability and drug safety can be characterized in relatively manageable studies, while these high-tech products can be positioned in premium price segments,” says Matthias Untisz, Chief Financial Officer of Marathon Beteiligungs AG. “We see great potential in immuneAdvice and are very pleased to support the team on its path to clinical application.”
Concrete Benefits for Patients and Health Insurers
immuneAdvice’s technology can help, in the long term, to select patients more precisely and to tailor and monitor treatments on a more individualized basis. Given the growing number of high-cost therapies and limited financial resources, a precise basis for decision-making is becoming increasingly important—not only from a medical perspective but especially from a health economics perspective. This is precisely the gap in routine clinical practice that immuneAdvice aims to close in the future.
Both patients and the healthcare system stand to benefit: Patients receive treatment tailored to their individual needs, while the healthcare system simultaneously saves costs associated with the use of ineffective medications. With this initial round of funding, immuneAdvice is taking a decisive step toward achieving this goal.
About immuneAdvice
immuneAdvice was founded in 2024 as a biotechnology spin-off of the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute in Reutlingen, the University Hospital Tübingen, and the University of Tübingen.
The company develops novel tracers for imaging immune cells using positron emission tomography (PET). These are based on radioactively labeled single-domain antibodies that specifically bind to certain immune cell populations. immuneAdvice’s ICE-T technology enables non-invasive examination of selected immune cells in patients and provides insights into their role in tumors and other immune-mediated diseases.
