Member2Member: Where expertise meets the community

Member2Member: Where expertise meets the community

Every company in the bioRN network has a story to tell. More importantly, every company has knowledge that can help others move faster, avoid mistakes and spark new collaborations.

That is the idea behind bioRN’s Member2Member series.

Instead of traditional company presentations, Member2Member opens the doors to our member organisations and puts their expertise centre stage. Each session focuses on practical challenges, scientific insights and questions submitted by the bioRN community, creating conversations that remain valuable long after the live event has ended.

Our latest session took us to Cytion at LAB22 in Heidelberg.

Together with Henri Schwegler and Jannis Steinmann, we explored one of the foundations of biomedical research: reliable cell culture.

Following a behind-the-scenes tour of Cytion’s laboratories, the discussion addressed questions submitted by researchers from academia, biotech and industry, including:

  • Why does cell confluency matter for reproducible experiments?
  • How do you choose the right cell model?
  • What role does cell banking play in research quality?
  • When should scientists start thinking about process development and manufacturability?
  • How do GMP, raw materials and change control influence the journey from research to industrial application?

The discussion demonstrated that successful biomedical innovation depends not only on groundbreaking ideas, but also on robust biological models, reliable laboratory practice and a deep understanding of quality.

For bioRN, this is exactly what Member2Member is about: creating opportunities for members to share their expertise, learn from each other and strengthen the collaborative spirit of one of Europe’s leading life science ecosystems.

Can Protein Building Blocks Protect Against Vascular and Kidney Damage?

Researchers from the Medical Faculty Heidelberg, the Medical Faculty Mannheim, and the Centre for Organismal Studies (COS) at Heidelberg University have launched a new research project investigating so-called dipeptides. Some of these naturally occurring protein building blocks are able to neutralize toxic metabolic by-products and may therefore help protect against vascular and kidney damage, particularly […]
