Branding the Life Sciences: Why Identity Matters
In today’s digital and global landscape, identity is more than a logo,  it is the foundation of how organisations, teams, and projects connect with their audiences. In this interactive workshop, we will explore how branding and visual storytelling can help life science organisations and initiatives build recognition, foster trust, and amplify impact. Drawing on insights from EMBL’s brand strategy across its six sites in Europe, Tabea Rauscher will share practical examples of how cohesive design strengthens collaboration, visibility, and coherence across diverse locations and stakeholders.

Through group work and discussion, participants will reflect on their own projects, co-create ideas at breakout tables, and pitch their results. Together we will identify opportunities, challenges, and strategies to build authentic and recognisable identities in life sciences, whether for an institute, a community, or an individual research team. The session concludes with shared reflections and networking. We very much look forward to inspiring discussions and networking opportunities.

The workshop will be led by Tabea Rauscher is an award-winning Creative Lead with more than 20 years of experience in brand strategy, marketing, and integrated communication. At EMBL, Europe’s life sciences laboratory, she heads a creative team across six sites in five countries, shaping brand identity and driving innovative approaches to storytelling and stakeholder engagement. Tabea is passionate about developing concepts that align with an organisation’s mission while cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

About the MarCom Breakfast:

It’s really easy to get overwhelmed by the ever increasing to-do list. But ist just as important to take the time and exchange experiences and learn from each other. Which is why we are hosting the first ever MarCom breakfast! To bring together Marketing and Communication professionals within the community where together we can develop ideas, learn from each other and overcome the daily hurdles we are all facing in MarComs. We hope to start a new series of MarCom Breakfasts, each with a new topic, to be determined by the bioRN MarCom community. The meet up takes place in a relaxed atmosphere with coffee, tea and small breakfast treats.
