bioRN News February 2025
Dear *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|*,

February was an intense month: the demands of the biotechnology sector were clearly emphasised in the course of the parliamentary elections. This was also the case in the article ‘Germany's most important bet on the future’, published in the Handelsblatt on 7 February. Julia Schaft and various Cluster-Managers made key statements dealing with the future of the German biotechnology and the course that needs to be set. Read the article on our website.

The February bioRN Lounge provided exciting insights from Peter Mark, Thermo Fisher Scientific about the "Common Challenges in the Drug Development Journey". Starting with an overview of today’s pharma and biotech industry challenges and the concept of expected net present value of a clinical asset, Peter shared the Thermo Fisher Scientific view on accelerating drug development.

Yesterday we had a great start to the bioRN MarCom Breakfast. The idea was born over coffee: to promote dialogue between marketing and communications people from the network. With an entertaining format that provides exciting impulses on hot topics, but also promotes networking and informal dialogue. The first topic "Unlocking AI for your marketing team" was very well received and over 30 participants from the ecosystem enjoyed coffee, breakfast snacks and extensive networking following the lectures by Mithun A. Sridharan and Andrii Koniukh. You are a Marketing and Communications Specialist und would like to join the next MarCom Breakfast? Send an email to comms@biorn.org and we put you on the mailing list.

The bioRN M2M Member to Member interview with HS Analasys took place and will be available on our website. Have a look at the on demand videos, they provide valuable information about the companies expertises and therefore offer business opportunities

The German Biotechnology Days 2025 are just around the corner!  This year´s program is packed with cutting-edge insights and highlights the various fields of application and the potential of biotechnology, from health research to the bioeconomy. A large number of speakers from the life science ecosystem enrich the program, Have a look at the line upe and register on the website, we can´t wait to see you at the bioRN Village!

SAVE THE DATE:
We are pleased to announce today the date for our next bioRN Annual Conference - Not only have we changed the brand name, but we are also changing the month of the event to a quieter February. This will enable even more interested visitors to take part.

CAVIGEN develops thermoformed microstructures for cell culture, including microcavities, porous microcavities, sensor-integrated microcavities (sensor arrays), and microchannels. Its patented technology enables precise oxygen measurement in 3D cell cultures, enhancing the physiological relevance of in vitro models, improving drug development processes, and reducing the need for animal testing.

CAVIGEN’s business model follows a razor-and-blade approach, offering a measurement device alongside disposable sensor arrays for organoid generation and analysis. In addition, the company provides custom development services to integrate its microstructures into existing systems.

Target customers include pharmaceutical companies, CROs, biotech firms, and organ-on-chip manufacturers developing advanced in vitro models. Currently preparing for market entry, CAVIGEN is testing its first prototypes with academic research groups and industry partners while actively seeking strategic partners and investors to accelerate adoption within the pharmaceutical sector.
