Dear *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|*,
September has given us plenty of reasons to look at the Rhine-Main-Neckar life science ecosystem with confidence.
Six ERC Grants went to researchers in the region. Two new European collaborative projects led from Heidelberg secured almost €8 million in funding. Heidelberg University achieved top international rankings in Medical and Life Sciences. And another major development is strengthening the region’s position in AI-driven medicine. On 1 October, the new Institute for Medical AI (IMAI) launches in Heidelberg under the leadership of Prof. Jakob Nikolas Kather, bringing research and clinical application of AI even closer together. We are particularly excited that Prof. Kather will join us as a keynote speaker at life - the biomedical convention 2027, 3 Feb at the Heidelberg Congress Center where AI in Health will be one of our two main tracks. (visit our website to receive more information about life)
Scientific excellence like this is one of the great strengths of our region. But its impact grows when the right connections are made around it, and September was full of them. That´s why we brought industry and academia together for a stimulating exchange on the latest approaches in platforms for target ID and new approach methodologies, at the exclusive Industry Academia Day. (more info here). The following day we connected selected startups with investors at the Life Science Investors´Day Heidelberg and created opportunities for conversations that can develop far beyond a single event. (find more information here ).
Our connections also reached beyond the region. At the K-Biotech Innovation Day, we welcomed five South Korean biotech and medtech start-ups to Heidelberg – opening doors to potential research and clinical collaborations, licensing, distribution and strategic partnerships between two highly innovative ecosystems.
And within the region, our growing Rhine-Neckar Lab Automation Community met at BioLabs Heidelberg to exchange practical experience around automation, digitalisation and the future of laboratory workflows. (more info here)
Different topics, different formats, but one common thread: making the scientific and entrepreneurial strengths of our region visible and creating the connections that help them move forward.
And there is much more to discover. Our new issue of life - the bioRN Life Science Cluster magazine captures another snapshot of the companies, research institutions, technologies and collaborations shaping the Rhine-Main-Neckar life science ecosystem. (find the magazine and more news on our website)
Make the most of the September sunshine today and plan your next visit to our ecosystem. Perhaps at one of our upcoming events?
